Founded in 2012 the Gilbert Shooting Club is a 501 c3 nonprofit youth sports club providing alternative sporting and educational opportunities to youth, grades 3-12, in the Gilbert School District. Our club is sanctioned by the Iowa Scholastic Clay Target Program (IASCTP) and supported by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. 
    Through a combination of education and athletics, we  hope to provide opportunities for growth and personal development to student athletes from elementary school through high school. We provide a supportive environment where team-based clay target sports serve as a catalysts for teaching life lessons and skills while emphasizing positive character traits, citizenship values and sportsmanship. 
    The clay target sports are an excellent alternative to traditional sports, allowing all athletes to become competitive, as an individual or as a team, regardless of physical size or gender.   

Practices

• Monday nights from 5:00 p.m - 6:30 p.m at the Boone Valley Izaak Walton League (2944 Fenton Ave, Stratford, IA 50249). 
• Each shooter will shoot 2 rounds of 25. 
• Dry Fire Target Simulator practice held preseason when weather does not permit outdoor shooting. www.dryfireus.com​

Meets

• When possible, groups of 5 shooters will be assigned prior to the meet and emailed their shooting/flight time. 
• Must arrive 1/2 hour before flight time. 
• State Meet Requirements: Attend 6 practices

• Club fee, per shooter, includes:

  • Shooting Glasses

  • Gun (12 or 20 gauge - automatic, pump, double barrel or hammer-less single shot.
  • All practice and competition shotgun shells. Club members may have opportunities to purchase shells at discounted rates or special order.
